You know what you are looking at. Fruit — a slice of lime, the swell of a pear, a split pepper, something green and ripe in the corner. Your mind hands you the label before you've even decided to reach for it: fruit salad. And yet, try to name a single one with certainty and it dissolves back into pure brushstroke, into color and gesture and swirl. You recognize the whole and lose every part.

This is the gentle argument of the piece. We are so quick to sort the world into things we can name — this fruit, that object, this category — as if naming were the same as knowing. But here the paint refuses. It gives you the feeling of fruit, the abundance, the ripeness, the color of a full table, while withholding every hard edge you'd use to pin it down. It asks whether you need to identify a thing to enjoy it. Whether the label was ever the point.

Not everything is meant to be named. Some things are only meant to be tasted. Let this be a reminder that recognition and understanding are not the same, and that the world is richer when you stop insisting it hold still.
