A swirling sun hangs over water that will not hold still. Painted in every blue at once — cobalt, slate, pale sky, deep navy — the waves roll toward a thin edge of warm sand, and the whole scene breathes the way a beach breathes: slowly, without asking anything of you. This is the shore as a feeling, not a place. The one horizon almost everyone has stood before and felt their shoulders drop.
