Detour

The Artwork:

The path runs in layers — rose, cream, gold, deep wine — flowing sideways like sediment, like years pressed into stone. And then, near the center, the smooth motion breaks. A dark hollow opens, a dip in the road no one saw coming, pulling the eye down into it. This is the obstacle that every life eventually meets: the sudden depth in otherwise steady ground.

But look at how the layers move around it. They do not stop. They bend, they wrap, they carry on past the hollow and keep flowing to the edge of the frame. The detour is not the end of the road — it is part of the road's shape. What looked like a wound in the surface becomes, from a step back, just one more curve in a much longer motion. The eye that fell into the dark climbs out the other side, and the journey continues, richer for the bend.

We are not measured by the flat and easy stretches, but by how we move through the low places. Let this be a reminder that every path has its hollows, and that flowing onward is its own quiet victory.
